Quartzsite botches public hearing notice

Despite posting on June 10th that the Quartzsite Town Council would consider approving an increase in Town sewer rates after a public hearing on August 13th, the Town failed to follow the law regarding posting requirements for the meeting. It has been rescheduled for August 30th, at 6:30 pm. The original date has not been entirely cancelled, there will now be a presentation on the rate increase at 6:30 pm on August 13th, with a question and answer session.

Editorial opinion: The idiot town manager and town clerk screwed up yet again, so no council action can be taken on the 13th. A dog and pony show will take it's place instead. Don't drink the cabal kool aide. The hearing on the 30th is a mere legal  formality as the Orgeron/Crooks/Jewitt/Bruno/Charles Prince coalition made up their minds long ago and  will argue compellingly that they must go forward and vote in the rate increase. After all, it's to pay back a loan they already approved and the increase is included in the budget they already approved. That being said, if the people of Quartzsite do not show up on the 30th to voice their opposition on the record, then the council will say they passed it because there was no opposition. If the people protest loudly and they pass the increase against the will of their constituents, then the true colors of the council members will be revealed and the next recall election will be a done deal. Show up to the meeting and weigh in. This rate increase is detrimental to business and to the future of Quartzsite. One parting thought: I predict the waste water treatment plant renovation to go several hundred thousand dollars over budget and when it does, Bruno will scamper back to Nevada and leave the real residents with the mess.
