Voters want Ed Foster as Quartzsite's mayor again!



Quartzsite voters turned out in record numbers yesterday to send a message. And that message was "NO" on Proposition 1 (444 votes to 149), meaning 75% 0f voters wanted an elected not an appointed mayor. The mayor they chose was Ed Foster.

At odds with the rest of the council before he even took office in 2010, Foster had lost a recall election to Fire Captain Jose Lizarraga in August by a narrow margin. That recall was spearheaded by then Councilman Jerry Lukkasson and his wife Michelle. Lizarraga refused to run again for his expiring mayors seat and Lukkasson resigned from the council for a chance to  wield the gavel. Now, the voters of Quartzsite have put Foster back in as the town CEO, and by a respectable margin. At least according to the unofficial results.


Two expiring seats on the town council will go to a run off election in May, with incumbents Barbara Cowell and Joe Winslow facing off against Pat Workman and Mark Orgeron.


Provisional ballots and late mail in ballots have yet to be added in to the totals, but write in candidate John Prutch was trailing appointed incumbent Mike Jewitt by 19 votes in the "special" election contrived through fraud by town officials. Poll workers reported the the layout of the ballot had many people confused and it's believed that the twenty two write in votes in the regular election were meant to be cast for the special election. That would likely have put Prutch over the top. It is anticipated this may go to a run off as well as not enough people voted in the "special" election to secure the required number foe either candidate.

  1. Only reason why he was elected was because Ed Foster's group solicits the snow birds.. Try it with actual residents in the summer.. The results would be the same as the recall last year.. Our town is doomed..

    1. Denial is more than just a river in Africa. Jerry and Michelle orchestrated this farce when they told Foster the night he was sworn in that they would recall him as soon as he was in office long enough to do it,and it blew up in their faces. Sore losers and more to come. Hopefully indictments to go along with defeat. Stay tuned.

    2. What difference does it make if Mr. Gilberts father is a rabbi? Why are youy curious as to someones religious faith?

    3. What possible reason do you have for asking whether or not Mr. Gilberts father is a Jewish Rabbi? How would that change or impact anything to do with what Mr. Gilbert does?

  9. You should update your readers. This article was premature in posting.

    There will be a runoff between Foster and Lukkasson on May 15th, 2012 for the mayoral position.

  10. FINAL UNOFFICIAL RESULTS ARE UP AND ED CLEANED JERRY'S CLOCK BY 70 VOTES BUT WAS 9 VOTES SHORT OF 50% +1, SO HE AND JERRY WILL GO TO A RUN OFF. ALSO MIKE JEWITT WILL HAVE TO GO TO RUN OFF WITH JOHN PRUTCH, SO ALL THEIR FRAUD WAS FOR NOTHING - 4 SEATS ARE STILL AVAILABLE..

  11. I find it interesting that someone calling themselves “Desert Messenger” (I’m not such a coward that I won’t use my name.) would come in and call the kettle black. You of all people have proven that point behind the quote made and you may finally learn that justice move slowly but it will arrive.

    The Town of Quartzsite will survive. However, how much longer it will be an Incorporated Town is the question. The Case Law and jury judgments back the Quartzsite-8, Jade Jones, Michael Roth, and others that will be filing more Civil Litigation against the Town of Quartzsite and Chief Jeff Gilbert and the remaining QPD Officers.

    If we learn from history, the Town of Quartzsite, League of Cities and Towns, along with La Paz County fail to have the funding to settle such a large number of Civil Cases. We still have the violations for “Under Color of Law,” “Civil Rights” violations, and RICO. ALL PULL FEDERAL JAIL TIME! From my point of view, training, and experience you may wish to start obtaining the advice of an Attorney before your interview.

    In case you forgot:

    Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
    You have the right to speak to an attorney and to have an attorney present during any questioning.
    If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense.
